Meet the Beekeeper
A Few Things About Me and How I Got Started
I have always had an interest in bees, and I actually researched beekeeping on my own, several years before delving into the hobby. Later on, I ordered a beehive and it all started from there.
I began beekeeping in spring 2016. I am a self-taught beekeeper and live with my husband and toy chocolate poodle, Nestle, in Alabama. I am also a licensed professional counselor with a private practice and host of a weekly radio show called Brain Matters.
I’ve always wanted to have bees but was afraid that it would be too difficult, and I wouldn’t have much support. I was right about one of those things!
Beekeeping is time-consuming and hard, but the reward is so much more. Not only do you get honey, but I also dare anyone to not be fascinated by these amazing creatures.
Passionate About My Bees
My goal is to raise and spread awareness among the community and beyond. It is also my hope that my hives and honey will create conversations about the importance of bees.
Meet the Bees
I name each of my hives just so I can keep up with inspections. I only have three hives but they are all productive. The hives’ names are Pesto, Periwinkle, and Marigold.
